OBJECTIVE To evaluate the immunogenicity of a combined DTPa-HB vaccine co-administered with Haemophilus influenzae type b conjugate vaccine (PRP-T) in Brazilian infants. MATERIAL AND METHODS A prospective and open clinical study, in which 110 infants were immunized with a three-dose primary vaccination regime at two, four and six months of age and with a single booster vaccination. Immunogenicity and reactogenicity of a pneumococcal conjugate vaccine administered combined with a haemophilus influenzae type B conjugate vaccine in United Kingdom infants.

BACKGROUND Streptococcus pneumoniae is a major disease burden in young children and the incidence of antibiotic-resistant pneumococcal strains is increasing. Multivalent pneumococcal saccharide-protein conjugate vaccines have recently been developed. OBJECTIVES To assess the immunogenicity and reactogenicity of a 7-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (7VPnC) administered as a separate injec...

Antigenicity and immunogenicity of a synthetic oligosaccharide-protein conjugate vaccine against Haemophilus influenzae type b.

Polysaccharide-protein conjugates as vaccines have proven to be very effective in preventing Haemophilus influenzae type b infections in industrialized countries. However, cost-effective technologies need to be developed for increasing the availability of anti-H. influenzae type b vaccines in countries from the developing world. Consequently, vaccine production with partially synthetic antigens...

Bacterial Meningitis and Haemophilus influenzae Type b Conjugate Vaccine, Malawi

A retrospective database review showed that Haemophilus influenzae type b conjugate vaccine decreased the annual number of cases of H. influenzae type b meningitis in children in Blantyre, Malawi. Among young bacterial meningitis patients, HIV prevalence was high (36.7% during 1997-2009), and pneumococcus was the most common etiologic agent (57% in 2009).
